 Carin A. Uyl-de Groot (1966) holds the position of Professor of Health Technology Assessment at Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. She serves as the director of the Institute for Medical Technology Assessment (iMTA b.v.). Since 2014, she has been a member of the Dutch Committee on Expensive Cancer Drugs (CieBOM), and since September 2015, she has held a membership in the Dutch Health Council. Her primary research focus lies in cost-effectiveness and outcomes studies. She serves as the principal investigator for various disease registries and outcomes studies, including ASCERTAIN, a project under Horizon Europe. Additionally, she actively participates in multiple international projects, such as those supported by Horizon and the National Institute of Health (NIH). Uyl-de Groot is a supervisor for numerous PhD students and contributes as an editor and reviewer for several (high impact) journals. Her research findings have been presented in various prestigious clinical and health economic journals, including Lancet Oncology, Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), British Medical Journal (BMJ), and Blood, as well as in prominent conferences. Notably, her papers in Nature Reviews proposing a novel pricing model for (cancer) drugs and in Cancers discussing disparities in access to new cancer drugs across Europe have attracted considerable attention within the scientific community.
